Default Kids do grow up

Some of you know me most of you may not but I thought I would share my story. I have two son's one is just now as of 12/31 all of 18. Over the years I have tried to teach him how to be a respectable man. At age 18 most of you know kids that age "know it all" and he is no different. I hate his girlfriend and I still try to tell him how to live day to day cos I forget he is grown now and its his time to make his own choices in life right or wrong and learn those consequences. He made what I consider one of the scariest but best choices he could ever make he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He went for his physical last month and failed cos he was 5 lbs over weight and Wednesday he leaves for New Mexico to train with my cousin his recruiter to get in shape to pass his physical so he can go and defend our country. So for he next 4 years I will be a basket case of worry. Its funny how our kids do exactly what we want them to do by growing up and become responsible young men and women and all we can do is wish they were little still. My other son is now 8 and see's what his brother is doing and the choice he has made and tells me "Mom when I grow up I am gonna do exactly what Bubby does and go to the Army, well maybe the Airforce cos I like planes" The moral of this story hold your kids tight, love them with all you can, and trust in yourself you have raised them right. No matter what path our kids choose, no matter if you believe in the fight our military is in or not bottom line strong parents make strong kids and I have two very strong brave boys!!!

Sounds like you did your job with the older one and the younger one is still a work in progress who will no doubt turn out as just as fine a man. Congrats

Being a parent is the toughest job there is. But the rewards are worth it.

My youngest turned 20 this month. He's a man, I suppose. But to me he is still a little kid. And I honestly can't tell if he really has grown up and I just refuse to see it, or if he's still a kid. Having a hard time letting this last one leave the nest.

I have an AARP Card and my mother still shakes her head when she sees/hears about some of the things I do...

Don't know about you, but I ain't growin' up

I can look & act grown up if necessary, but I don't feel like a "grown up". Don't really want to.

Mine is 18 going on 19 here in a couple of months and he is in college. Say's he is an adult, but not acting like one. Typical college stuff and of course in Wi it's all about drinking beer at UW colleges.
Hopefully as everyone tells me it is just a stage and he'll grow out of it.
