I think that by default, when someone joins, the thread subscription is disabled.

It took me a while to figure it out, as in every other vBulletin board I'm member of the default is set to automatic with no e-mail. Perhaps that would also be a good setting for this forum?

It was for me. I couldn't understand why I wasnt subscribed to any threads... And as it is set to subscribe with no email on the other forums I'm member of, I didn't knew there was a setting for that.

I don't get emails because I choose not to and I'm pretty sure on the 600rr, daytona 675, and my law school forums they are all set to no notification by default.
