Yea, we budget year round for vacations, so that when we take one (at least a smaller one like this) we have the funds. That's also one of the reasons we have decided to do motorcycle trips for our anniversary instead of something else, because compared to everything else a motorcycle trip where we camp is fairly inexpensive

Blue Ridge, GA area is great. I once lived with my fathers parents near Mineral Bluff, GA for a year, and for obvious reasons visited there lots of times. Lots of nice roads.

Look Out Mountain is not too far away, I think another one is called Blood Mountain, you could do a day loop up to TN, Deals Gap, and Back through NC. Blue Ridge has Motels and Hotels now a days (was not always like that). I remember one restaurant served bird seed back in the day on the salad bar...LOL Come to think of it, Blue Ridge be a good base camp area...you also have white water rafting not too far away at various rivers.

If you wanted to do another day loop its close enough to TN, that you could go to Jack Daniels just west of Telluhoma, TN and there are a ton of really cool roads up around there that I have ridden. Then come back through AL maybe see Russell Cave National Monument (Its FREE) and getting there is a blast. The northern part of Orme Rd is dirt, but turns back to pavement in the town of Orme...don't blink your eyes you will miss it...LOL

What ever you do ride the Cherohala Skyway. It is much better to me than the TOD but I love the high speed sweeping stuff and it wil not disapoint.

Yea, I'm sure we'll hit the Cherohala at some point if we have time. We rode it on our trip about three or four years ago when I still had the 250 and I loved it. We rode part of it again a couple years ago when I'd first gotten the 750. I must say I didn't enjoy it as much then as I did on the 250, haha!

Cherohala is a much better ride, IMO. I also like the high speed sweeper stuff, and there's a good mix along that route. There was literally no traffic when I rode it, I think I passed one or two cars during my entire loop.

These high speed sweeprs you speak of are what I love so much about River Road back home. It's nothing but farms and chemical plants on one side of the road and the River Levee on the other side. Only a hand full of homes. Pretty much zero traffic on weekends. Not a whole lot the rest of the time either. lol
