THIS was my first bike. A 1991 Honda Nighthawk 750. What a great machine to learn on. She was stolen by illegal hispanic immigrants back in '07.
I miss her some times. This one is a 2001 model, but is essentially identical to the one I had. Mine was the Honda Candy Red Metallic though.

Someone asked me once as we were watching "From the Earth to the Moon", on HBO a while back, "Tank, if you were an astronaut back then in 69-71 on the Apollo program which bike would you have had? Harley, or Triumph?" I said neither. Then showed him a picture of a '69 CB750 Honda.

Have I said that I hate my Vulcan 900?
Cruisers just don't work for me. The only reason I haven't sold it, at least not yet, is because nothing beats a cruiser for 2 up riding, or at least none of the bikes that I've had so far. But I'm seriously considering a Bandit 1200 or 1250 to replace it. The problem is that the Vulcan is the bike for rides with the wife, so whatever replaces it, will have to be approved by the wife. My back kills me on the Vulcan. Basically you sit up straight, so every impact goes straight up your spine. The suspension is tuned for flat smooth roads, so it can handle small bumps on the road (it's tuned for low speed damping), but small potholes, expansion joints and Mexican roads make up for high speed suspension movements, and the suspension sucks at high speed damping, I suspect that the shock just hydro locks. That and the stock seat sucks, even when I'm on interstates I can't really ride it for more than an hour. The last time I rode it was a 160 or 180 mile day, and it was extremely painful by the end.
