Well, they aren't gonna go for it. I'm sorry to say that my mold isn't the infamous black mold that everyone fears so they will just have it professionally cleaned and dropped off at my house. At which point I will call someone in and have it junked.

I had entertained maybe getting it fixed, but after doing a little research online it looks like the bill for that could run into the several thousands of dollars. I'm at that point where I am tired of throwing good money after bad...

I think the transmission broke.

Damn! That car is seriously garbage...

I googled a bit and found that MKIV TDIs also have the troublesome 02J transmission. If the differential chewed up the casing you need a complete new transmission.

To be fair, I think the problem was caused by the piss poor mechanic that worked on it at the base in Okinawa. It sucks, but I had to go that route because TDIs were never sold in Japan and the dealer wouldn't work on it.

At the very least, they gave me a free loaner car for the four or five months they worked on it (seriously) and then didn't charge me anything because the delay was caused by the mechanic.

My guess is that if I had kept the car stateside, the problems would have seemed less onerus. The windows, for example, could have been reparied while I waited at a stateside dealer. I would have taken it in when problems first popped up, put a ton of miles on it commuting and then been done with it a couple years ago.

That said, no car should have the kinds of problems this car has had right out of the box.

That sucker rolled off the truck today and found a home next to my two current cars out in the lot. Tomorrow or the next day I'll have to go out there with the camera, take some photos and put that puppy on craigslist.

The end is near.
