Kenny, I might need you to check out my Tahoe I actually have to warm it up in the mornings before driving it... it's like it's a 70's Silverado instead of a 2000's Tahoe.

Makes a ticking noise when it's cold started. If I drive it right away, it ticks louder with the RPMs. After about 4-5 minutes of idling, it roars like normal.
Thats becuse overnight, the oil drained from the lifters. Once the oil gets to flowing again the ticking stops

OK, today's tragedy is that the mechanic sat the camshaft on his workbench and then accidently knocked it off onto the floor. Of course it broke right in two so now I'll be waiting another week or two for them to get a replacement camshaft...

Otherwise, it looks like he was doing a great job on it and it should come back to life with no problems. For some reason, the head gasket had been weeping water for a while and it was all rusty around the water jackets. Odd.

VW has electrical issues. One day when you're out on a ride or drive, see how many new VW's have a brake or tail light out. It's really unbelieveable.

I'll stick with Subaru. Things are damn near bullet proof. 220k on my 96 Legacy LSi Wagon.

Problem with Soobs is the head gaskets like to fail on the 2.2 and 2.5 liter engines.

Not on the 2.2L. The 2.5L is an enlargement in bore of the same block. The problem was the gasket area was too small in the 2.5L's and wasn't found until customer motors began accruing miles. The new 2.5L's don't have the problem, and the fix on the older ones is to mill down the ridge and make a larger contact area, stopping the problem. My 2.5L had the fix and doesn't leak a bit at the heads. It has 220k+ on it now. Our 2000 Forester had the older head, but never leaked in over 125k. The 2007 has 36k on it now, and has the redesigned heads. No issues so far.

There's a reason VW/Audi scores consistently well below average on the J.D. Power and Associates initial quality and long term dependability surveys.

I have owned a 2005 VW Jetta GLI since its birth, and it is the best car I have ever owned, period. And that includes two BMW's.

I would rate VW above any domestic maker in my personal experience.

Pre-1995, VW made cars that freakin' lasted years! After that, junk. I've heard and seen from numerous friends the latest incantations of what Volkswagon passes off as top of the line and it's getting to be like Fiat- you know, Fix It Again Tony or what I like better, Feeble Italian Attempt at Technology! Hahahaha! I had a '72 super beetle with the 1700 cc engine in it with a Holly two barrel, adco sway bars, mcpherson strut suspension on the front and air shocks on the back, wide tires, oil cooler and a bunch of other stuff. It was like a legal go cart!!! Woo hoo, mon, that thing flew!!
