Red face No bike to ride means...

Time to paint!

I'm putting this in The Happy Place, because next to great sex and riding my bike, painting makes me the happiest.

Two new works-in-progress:

Oil on 11x14 canvas board

Oil on 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas

Thanks

I like the 2nd one more (the 16x20). That was the first one I did this weekend. The colors in the photos for both aren't exactly what you see in person. It's SO hard to photograph a painting well. If they weren't still so wet I'd take them outside and photograph them under sunlight. That seems to work out better. But it will be three or four days at least before I can carry them around without risk to the paint. As they dry the colors will change slightly too.

That second one reminds me of a walkway through the swampland in Tampa. Very purty.

The bad thing about oils is it takes foreeeeeeeever to dry.

Yeah true... but being open for so long leaves time for alterations. I use Liquin though, so drying time is shortened quite a bit.

If I want speedy-dry, I use acrylics instead of oil. Fast drying, easy clean-up. But painting with oils is much more satisfying on an emotional level for some reason.

I know the feeling. It's impossible to describe that unremitting joy when I pop open a Crayola box myself.

It's the same thing! I think it's the smell of the oil paint that I love so much. Same with crayons.
