Heated gloves ROCK!
OK, I had still been having a bit of trouble getting the old Duc started when the temperatures are near or below freezing, but a stronger battery, lighter oil in the engine, and better starter circuit wires (including the addition of a direct ground wire from the starter negative to the battery) seem to have done the job.
Also, added a harness to power heated gloves. Just got that hooked up today, and immediately went for a ride -- 45 miles at 30ºF (-1ºC), in the rain, at night. Came back feeling warm and dry and happy. That totally rocks. PhilB

Heated gloves (and gear in general) are great. My cutoff for riding temps is 32, though - not interested in dealing with ice. BTDT.

My cut off is 38 for the same reason and about the limit of what gear I do have

Yeah, I'm not interested in ice, either. But it had been warmer earlier in the day, so the morning ice had melted. And it was raining steadily which would actually prevent ice from forming, so I went for it. It was a great test.
