Default Woohoo! Riding season again, and an Ohlins!

I am reading the Owner’s Manual on the shiny new Ohlins shock under my slightly shabby old Monster. The old one blew out – a combination of a big pothole, 30ºF (-1ºC) weather (meaning stiff brittle seal plus thick oil creating higher pressure against said seal), and the fact that it was the original shock after 17+ years and 187,000 miles. So I went for the fancy upgrade, which was actually $400 cheaper than simply replacing it with the OEM style shock.

It makes a nice difference – suspension improvements are worthwhile.

It has (pretty much) stopped snowing here (in Cleveland), so I started riding again last week. It’s still a bit on the cold side, but oh well.

Had the local Ducati shop (in Akron) order it and fit it for me.

Oh ok, I wondered if you got a good deal online. But I forgot who I was talking to.

I will be looking to upgrade my suspension in the next year or so I think.

... and suddenly it's back to CA! I have a new project in L.A. starting as soon as next Monday, so I'm packing up here and flying home on Thursday.

Unfortunately the timing, weather, and schedule mean that I can't ride the bike back; I'll have to have it shipped.

But it will be awfully nice to be much closer to home again.

Wow that seems all of the sudden and out of no where. Was it expected?

On the bright side at least it will be warmer

Sort of. I had made it known to the company I am contracting through that I wanted a project closer to home when possible, and I knew they were working on that.
I had committed to the client here to be here until the end of February.
So I did expect to be transferring back at some point. But I did not expect to have so little warning.
Anyway, it's all good. My family, friends, and cats are certainly happy to hear it.
