Default Bike shopping, Ducati or Aprilla

My husband is looking to get a different style bike. He's got his eyes on the Ducati Hypermotard 796 or the Aprilla Dorsoduro 750 or Shiver.

Thoughts, opinions?

I've heard of electrical gremlins in the Aprilia shiver, which I think is the same basic bike as the Dorsduro, just different ergos (naked vs. hypermotard)

I love the look of all three of those though, and reviews of the Shiver paint it as one hell of a fun bike to ride.

Good luck with his choice, whatever it is!

If J is leaving the super sport-bike category - from Kawasaki there is the Ninja 1000 and Z1000 which are still very much sportbikes - but ones you can live with - and the Versys, which is a 650 and a parallel twin.

I like 4 cylinders - either inline or V4 - which is why I don't own a Versys.

I might consider a Tuono V4, but Italian is expensive and without many dealers here. Triumph has some cool stuff too.

Dunno.

I can relate to J though, which is why I still own my ZZR600. It is a casual bike that is comfortable and doesn't cry-out for speed.

Bill's Ninja 1000 is a great compromise. It's a very nice bike that fits in a great niche.

I'd love to own an updated standard that is simple.
