Nothing contractual about it. It has more to do with all of the travel and time away from his family. Something tells me he would've done a 1 year deal just to show people that he could do it just as easily as Spies made it look.

Considering he would not be riding the top tier bike with the top factory crew, parts and support, he might find WSBK pretty tough. If I remember, Spies was beating him when Mladin was riding for the premier program in AMA.
I believe Mladin could be competitive in WSBK, but he wouldn't be dominating like has has in AMA

The rumor I read was that it was going to be with Yoshimura Japan, possibly not all rounds though. Maybe he wanted to have a chance at the title if he were going to do it.
