Weighing in at a hefty $59,950 (£36,500) the Diavolo gets a load-bearing carbon-fibre frame, swingarm, and matching carbon-fibre fuel tank, a GPS dash from GET Electronic Systems that provides all the usual data, plus lap times. There's also a GPS-driven 2-D track map with enough storage for up to 100 of your fave racing circuits.

With a claimed 164 bhp and a dry weight of just 164 kg, the Diavolo hits the golden 1:1 ratio of weight against horsepower.

I have had the pleasure of seeing several Bimota's over the years and must say that they are amazing pieces. It takes hours to find all the little hand made parts that go into making up the whole bike.

Uh oh........Aca no likey the carbon wrapped goodness?

Its a beautiful bike. I however have had the priveledge of working on several and found them to be giant pains in the ass due to the only parts that were readily available were the one that came off another bike.

Dont get me wrong, if I had the money backing me, Id be doing the same thing. No use in designing your own engine when the cost is so high for tooling that you go broke trying to keep up with even a 4 year cycle.

Bimota has a good platform... snag a motor and build a competent if not great chassis.

Compared to the factories in the same time period, they did that. Now? I dunno, it looks like lots of billet wrapped in carbon or annodized black. Which is cool but does it work like the big four's do?

From the sounds of things, it isn't carbon-wrapped... it is in fact a carbon frame.

Which makes it a bit more special that a jap 600cc.
