It wouldn't be hard to achieve a similar look with a standard streetbike. It would cost a few bucks but could done without a lot of effort. Some wheels, exhaust, lower fairing and just general clean up will have a standard SV looking like a million bucks.

As far as performance inhancements the sky is the limit and it can be done cheaply. A set of GSXR or TLR forks, a penske or Ohlins shock and that is about all it needs. Both of which can be found pretty reasonably on ebay or some of the regional race sites. ( I gave away two sets of TLR forks a while back and Doug found an Ohlins for is SV in the CMRA Classifieds for 400 bucks..)

I only posted the pic to show that the SV can be made to look quite impressive. I'm not sure if the same could be said about the FZ.

The only aftermarket part that is available for the FZ that REALLY turned me on is the Lazer (MV knockoff) exhaust. That is one fine looking exhaust!


Maybe one of these FZ fans can find a pic of a FZ that would change my mind.

The OP asked for reasons why we would choose one bike over the other. Some of us were talkn' bikes, tossn’ opinions and kickn’ tires.

I thought it would give some of you FZ fanboys a reason to whore up some pics of some nice FZs... Personally, I’m always looking for a reason to whore some pics of nice bikes.

from what you said it sounds like you already have your mind made up so why would anyone want to try to pry open a closed mind.


To be fair as a rule I don't like the full faired look, but most of the RSV's are hot, needinjustice's CBR is a beautiful bike, there are others that look nice too, but most look bulky almost fat to me, plus there's th removal of all that plastic to do maintenance, and with the unfortunate get off it's $$$ to get your bike back to original condition.

yea the fz fightered takes on a whole new level of appeal, I always figured if I ever lay mine over thats the route I'd go with it, something like what wavex did with his. Of course he got that done just in time to broadside some old blue hair that jumped out in traffic.

My vote was between the FZ6 and SV those are the two that i've ridden and I enjoy my SV
