Anyone into the minis?

Im talking about the YSR50s and NSR50s and the such.

Ive had several pocket bikes all china knock offs.......was going to build some more of them but Ive since decided that Id rather concentrate on the YSR sized class bikes.

Any of you guys or girls ride em?

I know its an underground cult kind of deal but Id have thought they would be more popular than they are anymore. Especially when the pocket bike craze came around. Sure the Pocketbikes can be had for 600 bucks but fuck I hate chasing parts down for them. I couldnt ever find a direct wholesaler.

I remember riding a ysr50 at a Yamaha dealer when they first came out and thinking they were probably going to be a lot of fun. I had some friends race ysr for a while too but I just could get into it. I guess there was always more me than there was bike even when I was at 160 to 170 pounds.

As for pocket bikes I remember years ago someone took the top trunk off his goldwing and made a way to mount a pocketbike to the rack instead. He would show up at the races, take the pocketbike down, and ride it all day long. When it came time to go home the pocketbike went back onto the rack and off he would go. Sorry no pictures as it seemed like a neat idea but not really picture worthy at the time.

My father in law sold his YSR50, which he had already told me and the wife he was saving for his grandson... who could probably ride it next year.

We think he was drunk when he sold it.

I do remember watching Nicky Hayden race ysr50's when he was the right size to fit them and his sister was faster than him.

When I was doing the WERA thing everyone I knew had one, of course they were used as pit bikes and they were raced on "short' tracks at whatever venue the race was for that weekend, but the most fun was when(and for those that never had one top speed on a stock one was 45-50 at best) but to go out and ride with your buds on regular bikes and hold on to the back of them to keep speed up hill while in full leathers was a phreakin blast...oh te looks you would get lol.
