Default Bustin' My Ass For Nothing....

So, I was hired into Little Caesars' a month or so ago as a manager and I was making halfway decent money. Not great though. Well, anyway, the franchise owner approached me today and told me that I couldn't be a manager for them anymore. I had been working 12 hour days 6 days a week for them, and coming in when they called me when they were busy. Busted my ass all my life for this small opportunity, and this was the first time I had ever had it. Why cant I be a manager for them you ask? I will be more than glad to tell you. Evidently, that b/c one of my friend's is a manager at Papa John's about 10 miles down street, means I cant be a manager for Little Caesars. Evidently they don't trust me enough and think that I am going to share information with him. So, I lost my job today b/c I have a friend that works for the competition.

That sucks. Is GA like FL, where an employer can fire you for any reason or no reason, at their whim?

Pretty much. I've seen it happen to others and myself.

Sounds like they are just looking for an excuse, you may want to check local laws that may be Illegal.
However I am a firm believer that if a company does not like you, well its their company and can get rid of you if they so choose, you may not like it, but that is life.

The only real way to get ahead in this world minotary wise is to get a good trade under your belt, a good education, or somehow find a small business Idea and make the money for yourself.
One of my best friends is a the assistant manager of a resort, he does everything, while the manager walks in every quarter and looks at the books then goes plays golf for four times the money, I consider my friend something of a sucker with the hours he works but eh, he will be there for a long time to come.

Gl man, tough time to lose your job.

Oh yea one more thing, generally speaking people are are the harder workers are held back as they are needed in said position more than a higher up on, now that isnt right, but if you have a person who is equal to two people, why would you want him in any other position?

Well, the guy that let me go was that specific location's franchise owner. Not the owner of little caesars, but none the less, he had the authority to do so.

In my working career, I have lost my job due to poor decisions by other people more than once. Most recently, I brought in over $300 million likely work (correct number) and got more than $60 million to the contract stage. The guy I worked for managed to scotch all but $15 million, and he hung up on the president of a potential client with a $40 million project who were ready to sign a contract with us. I'm not counting an additional $100 + million worth of work which would have easily followed on had we come to contract with these other projects. When the economy cooled, he couldn't understand why I told him we had to focus more on the public sector if we wanted to get more work. I'm not even really a salesman or marketing person. I just stepped into the role since nobody else would do it.

So, I got laid off. He's still got his job, salary, perks, and presumably some kind of bonus. So it goes. Sometimes being a dumbass pays better than being right. Because of the industry I'm in, I can pretty much forget finding anything for a long time unless I generate the work myself. So I have been doing it. But, now the project I had got pulled, and the company building it hasn't paid me. They are 60 days behind. I called and asked if I had to lien the property to get paid or what. The woman I spoke to was very apologetic and said the payment would be "processed" on Monday, more than three weeks after I was originally told I would be paid. She said they had an inexperienced person doing the processing. So, I told her I appreciated apologies, but they weren't legal tender, and if I didn't see a check, the lien would be filed. It's just business. Those with power and position can be idiots and get away with it, at lest for a while. In the long run, self-employment will pay far better, but the current cash flow situation is very, very bad. It's just the way life works, sometimes. I'm not exactly angry about all this, just frustrated. The world is populated by people whose ancestors should have been lion food, and they manage to screw it up for everybody else.

The moral of this story is nobody will look out for your interests except you. Best to remember it and always have your ear to the ground. Companies and bosses show no loyalty, so there's not much reason for an employee to show any, either.

and knowing more than the boss does is not a good idea especially when the boss also knows it. I always have been of the opinion that you hire the best person for the job and let go but lately it seems that's not the way. The way is to hire someone real cheap and have a manager stand over them all day to make sure they don't screw anything up. Now that's some way to run a business.

Yep, it's a right to work state.

Not sure what "secrets" a Little Caesar franchise has - sounds like a bullshit excuse. Every company knows what every other company is doing. We know what our competition is doing months - sometimes years - before it happens due to the Competitive Research teams.

Man that sucks Jautry. It smacks of wrongful dismissal to me. Did you not sign a confidentiality agreement when you went to work for them? The vast majority of my friends work for direct competitors of my company .. should I be let go then because I might tell my friends how we do business? Retarded and sucky.

Blurr as a nice guy?? Hmmmm .. LOL j/k bud.
