Default Speeding Ticket

I received a speeding ticket a few weeks ago, which I intend to fight in court. I got a call today from the police officer who issued me the ticket telling me that the court date is wrong on the ticket and he would drop a new ticket by my house in a few minutes.

I called a lawyer I know, his advice was to ignore the officer, and not take the ticket, so I did just that. Oddly enough, before the officer even knocked on the door or rang the door bell he tried to open my door. He sat outside my house for 1/2 hour, and called numerous times and leaving messages to call him back... which I actually felt bad doing it to him for what ever reason.

Also this was odd, the officer asked for my phone number when he gave me the original ticket. I'm assuming his vacation request was granted or something and he can't go to court now. The guy I carpool with got a ticket with the same court date and time as me, last week.. so I'm pretty damn sure it's not a problem with the court.

What do you guys think of this junk?

Sounds to me that you might receive a "get out of jail free" card on this one. A no show by an officer is a dismisal.

Sounds like you owe your laywer a beer for getting you out of the ticket.

That's a mean ticket for sure. What? Were you doing 200 in a school zone or something?

Good luck with it though
