2001 Yamaha Warrior 350

History Detail:

I always wanted a motorcycle (strictly dirt or dual purpose) just never could afford one. Then in 2008 my wife surprised me with a late birthday present of the KLX. I told her I wanted a dual sport because I didn't want to be constrained to the street. Well after riding it on and offroad for a bit I found I was having more fun getting to the trail than I was on the trail and felt much more at home with 4-wheels on dirt. So, decided to keep the KLX as a street learning tool and had it lowered for the wife to be able to ride as well, since she devleoped an interest.

Enter Katana 750, our first street bike. My wife had done her BRC and we were both enjoying riding at this point. Even though the KLX was lowered it was still too tall for the wife, so we traded it on an 08 ZZR and had THAT lowered for her. She loved the fit and feel of the ZZR, but after I told her of a scare it gave me (pulled a lot of throttle in 1st and wasn't quite prepared for the power) she got skittish around it. I completed my BRC around mid season (after about 500km or so LOL).

Enter Ninja 250R. We bought that as a more "comfortable" bike for her and since we were making payments on the ZZR, decided to sell the Kat to pay for the Ninja.

We both have our endorsement now and many more km under our belts. The wife loves her little ninja but sometimes wonders if she shouldn't have stayed on the ZZR (fear of getting complacent on the ninja) but she is content for now. In a year or two we may get her back on the ZZR and I will get a new bike, or may just get another new bike for her.

Happy Riding!
Might have got somewhat of a late start but many good times ahead

Name: Tammy

Age: 42

First Street Bike: 1989

Bikes: Honda CT70, Kaw EN450, '82 Suz GS1100E, '05 GSXR600, '07 GSXR750

Certs: M/C endorsement for the State of Florida since '89, also for State of MS briefly from '93 - '96 , MSF graduate (FL).

General: I grew up in Buchanan, MI near a motocross track called Redbud, so I spent a lot of time there watching races, though I never got into it myself (unfortunately I was more into horses at that age). However I did ride the CT70 all over creation, as well as the occasional snowmobile & three-wheeler.

I got my first street bike, learned to ride it and got my endorsement in Fla in 1989. In 1990, I moved to MS and began working in motorcycle parts for a Honda dealer. I stayed in MC parts until early 1997 when I became fed up with making no money.

While in MS, I bought my GS1100E in a box and with the help of my then BF, rebuilt it from the frame up. We also rebuilt his Kaw H2 750 triple which I rode a few times, and his CR250.

I was bikeless for a few years, but had the use of a CBR600 for a while when my friend's house burned down and he had nowhere to keep his bike. (Storage fee = I get to ride the bike). And of course, I get to ride any bike my SO might have.

In Nov 2004 I bought the '05 GSXR600 and put 14 track days and 32,000 miles on it.

In early '08 I traded the 600 for the 750. Still have that one now.

Until recently, I was a Certified Track Junkie. To be honest, I think my passion for track days is cooling. I still love to go and have a great time when I'm there. But no longer feel desperate for my next track day. I am starting to become interested in sport touring, I think. I used to love to go exploring on my bike, and I'm starting to get that urge again.
