Okay, so I got all the water ready and finally got the fish today. I started off with 3 Molly fish, because It is only a 10 gallon tank and don't want them to be too crowded.
All was fine, until I got back from hanging out with people tonight, and I noticed 12 tadpoles floating around. I know molly are livebearing, do you think I bought a pregnant one who just had babies?!?! I am very new to fish and so now dealing with babies is scary! Anyone with experience, it'd be appreciated muchly. Thanks |

Mollys are easy, you'll be able to tell the males from the females quite easily and once you get used to them, you'll be able to spot the "pregnant" ones...
The younglins seem to be tasty, and they will eat them, so you must separate them from the rest. You need one of these: Freshwater Aquarium Tropical Fish: Baby Nursery for Live Bearers And you'll have to keep them there until they are big enough not to be eaten by the others... Eventually you'll have too many Mollys, bunnies have nothing on them, and the least thing you'll want is more of them.

Guppies are the same way. My son won one at the fair once so we tried the aquarium thing for a while. It was pretty cool and the only issue I really couldn't overcome was algea. Because guppies are like bunnies too, we had two 10 gal tanks going at one time. Finally after about two years the numbers started to dwindle and we took it all down.
It was fun watching the babies grow. We put in floating grass ornaments in ours to give them hiding places from hungry parents
