Thumbs down Nissan rips the Suck Award right out of Suzuki's hand

So, I bought an '07 Frontier LE in December '06. Been really happy with it, until about a week or so ago when the fuel sending unit went bad.

After a bit of Googling I see that this is a common problem from '06 to '08 Frontiers & Pathfinders. So I called the dealer to see about getting it fixed. My truck is out of warranty, but I saw a lot of talk of Nissan covering the repair anyway.

Turns out they did extend the warranty on the FSU, to 72K miles. And... my truck has 74K miles. Sorry we can't help you, call Nissan direct and see what they say. Which I did and after a week or so, someone finally called me back and the first thing they asked me was "how many Nissans have you owned?"

Really? Well, besides this truck, I had a 280Z. But I really love this truck. Can you help?

They said they would think about it, and today I got a call back, saying sorry but we are unable to help you since its past the warranty period.

No shit? That's why I called. Thanks for nothing! ok I didn't say that but I wanted to.

I don't get why me being a customer now isn't important enough. And 2k miles out of the warranty period? Come on! I guess when I decide to buy another vehicle I can rule out Nissan.

If it's a defective part from the factory, it seems like they should replace it regardless of warranty issues.

Just last year when I got my brakes replaced on the Kawi, they were still doing factory checks on things. So I guess screw Nissan, go green.

The one honda I owned .. a 98 Honda accord, purchased in 2000 from Toyota second hand with 64,000km on. @ 120k, the starting motor went on it. Took it to honda which at the time had a 100k powertrain warranty. The dealer replaced it and when I went to settle it .. they said no, it's under warranty *shrug*

Honda just doesn't have the vehicles I'm interested in or require, or I'd have another just for the service

Sorry to hear that Tam

Try a different dealer. And complaining that something wont be replaced after your warranty runs out is like complaining that your milk is sour after the expiration date.

That's pretty damn shitty, Tammy.

As for warranty...I've got one that takes the cake! I have an electronic stimulator that my insurance company purchased for me to use after one of my car accidents. I hadn't used it for a while but was really hurting so I set it on to charge. I left it on for a few hours and it still wasn't charged. I took some meds instead and went back a few days later and checked it again. Still nothing. I called the number and check this shit out...I was ONE day out of warranty...yes, just ONE stinkin damn day and the assholes wouldn't fix it for me. I was Pissed!

I swore I'd never give the stupid ass convicted felon owner a dime of my money for electrode pads or anything EVER!

Stevo, That denial was directly from Nissan.

They knew it was a bad enough problem that they extended the warranty on that particular part. To 72K miles. My truck had 74K when it went bad. They can wink at 2k miles to keep a customer happy?

You should have said to them..."so this is the kind of customer service I can expect if I buy another new vehicle from your company, when you know that it's an issue and addressed it for other people, but because mine just happened to last for a whole 2K more miles that the other vehicles you won't fix it? Thanks, I'll make sure to never support your company again!!! "

That sounds like an exercise in futility but I guess I could try it. I'll wait until Monday so it doesn't ruin my weekend.
