Some know the little secret hole-in-the-wall places that serve great food in their state, some travel a lot and have discovered a few of their own favorites. Some of us travel enough that we may want to take note.
![]() Charleston, SC: Ted's Butcherblock, downtown, right next to the Aquarium, owned by a Polish man and his wife. Every month, they have a different world cuisine they base their meals on. The 3 year Gouda mac & cheese is nommy. ![]() They also have a little store with cheeses, wines, meats, spices, whatever. It's worth the trip if you're in town. Charleston's Neighborhood Butcher Shop & Gourmet Market: Ted's Butcherblock, Charleston, SC Alair Bistro in Mount Pleasant, a fine dining restaurant that's well worth the money. It's owned by a retired Air Force officer, and such notable people as the George Daniel's band, Matthew McConhoeueoeyeyeyey (sp?), and some famous actress I can never remember have eaten there. When I was there every Thursday night was wine tasting with appetizers, sommeliers, a pianist, it was great. San Diego: Nelly's Diner, a little mom & pop restaurant tucked in next to a school in Point Loma. So what about you? Where are those great little places someone passing through wouldn't know to look for? |

Personaly I hate the food here in NM but if youre in ABQ and you want mexican............Gardunos is the "trendy" spot and if you want mom and pop italian "MARIO'S" is the best of the bunch.
There isnt much in the way of eatery here...........EVERYTHING IS A CHAIN STORE OR "NEW MEXICAN" which is just a fancy term for covered in chili. I hate chili. No you east coasters..........Im not talking about Texas Chili either. Its green or red chili and nothing more than peppers peeled and chopped. You can get it at any fast food place like Mc Ds no less here its so fucking popular. Anyone interested in that stuff, let me know as aug/sept is usually when the first harvests come and I always ship out 90 pounds of it to friends across the states Id be glad to add you on to it.

Yalaha Bakery, in Yalaha, FL Awesome German Bakery. They have a little sandwich counter as well as the main bakery counter, which is good, because you can’t get near the bakery counter on the weekends. The place is packed, inside and out.

Pork Chop Johns uptown butte, most of ya'll have never had a pork chop sandwich, lemme just say they are addicting as hell. Pepperment patty's Anaconda. some of best burgers and their pork chop sands are pretty good too. Drummond montana, best burgers on the planet, Dono the name of the place but is the only burger joint in a town of probably 500 lol.

Another great place in San Diego is Santana's Mexican Grill, in Point Loma and a couple other places. It's a tiny chain (like 3 in town) of quasi-fast food, but it's some of the best Mexican food ever.

I don't recall ever seeing one, but most of the time my focus is on the ride, not the distance scenery. Contrary to popular belief, there are curvy roads here, and the best ones are on the way to that restaurant.
