First off, try spell check once in awhile Scott! Hahahaha!

Second, yeah, we were the world leaders at one point. "Apollo 13" is still one of my fav movies of the year and a fantastic book to read during the winter months. We're in a harvest moon right now here on the West Coast of Kalifornia. I see this orb in the sky with Saturn just to the South East of it. Amazing stuff. Got a friend with a 18 inch backyard telescope and we eat some shrooms and go space travel sometimes late on weekend clear nights. Unfortunately, the world has gone to s__t! We spend a gadzillion dollars on other nations who, in return, hate us anyways. We can't even take care of our own people because of what we do around the world. So, getting off the political slant, yeah, WTF happened? I use to read OMNI magazine (remember that one?) and ate that stuff up like it was milk toast. Read every Sci-Fi book I could get my hands on. My dad turned me onto Ray Bradbury when I was a young influential boy and I powered through all of his books- "I sing the Body Electric", "The Martian Chronicles" and many more.
I'd give my full set of teeth to sit in a 200 inch mirror telescope for one night and stare off into deep space for just one night. We are minor. Minor people in this universe. To think that we are the only ones is just narrow thinking. And yes, you guessed it. I'm agnostic. I believe in the big bang and all. Sorry. Too much to believe that a "person" conjured up this thing we live on, that we are part of a galaxy, a universe, that is way to friggin' big for most folks to believe in.
So there. My two bits. Harumph!

I think we got to caught up in what "cannot be done" over what could be done, instead of landing these probes constantly and debating on if people can go to mars, take some volunteers and go for it, hell I would gladly be the Chimp for it as would countless other people. I also think the electronic age has pulled people away from things which truly matter, our Idea of adventure now is a new computer program sucking us into its lame world. There is simply so much within reach of the average person, that has never been within reach before, and it is by enlarge ignored.

Good post from greywolf. now that is something ya do not hear every day.

Waht? A compliment from Blurr? Hahahaha!

Yeah, I agree. People are becoming sedentary. Sitting around on computers, cell phones, watching the news come to them instead of the other way around. Pushing number 5 on their phone without bothering to remember the number to dial out. Guess that's why I like my bike so much. Gets me out. I'm chasing birds outta my vineyard right now using my mountain bike instead of using propane cannons like my neighbors. I sit in my hot tub for hours at a time at night looking up at the stars and the vast universe that surrounds us thinking. Tons of ideas float by and between my ears. Creative ideas. Thought provoking thoughts and emotions that rise during those times are amazing emotions. All triggered by that black sky with all those twinkling lights. The technology that mankind has brought forth in looking backwards through time and space is truly amazing. We are seeing stuff that happened millions of years ago today because of that ability. I cannot fathom or even believe that those gaseous clouds deep within our universe were "created" by one guy- sorry.
There's that. And then there's the quantum universe. The technology of looking at the smallest things in life. I just finished reading two books that dealt with fractals and genomes (both fiction by the way) that blew my mind in just thinking about the possibilities of life building blocks so small we still can't find the smallest particle.
Yeah, and I'm just sitting here drinking coffee too! Hahahaha!
