Yeah, being out on the ocean in bad conditions can be fun.

Riding through the Baltic Sea on a Cruise ship/Ferry I say both because they are very nice but also many will have rooms, dance halls ect, however they still load cars and trains on. anyhow its night and storming badly, ship is rocking and I decide to go down to grab something from our bags in the train down below, the ship was rocking so bad the Train's were actually rocking on the rails as well, crazy IMO.

Not quit as severe as the vid, lol the fat guy sliding back and forth across the floor is priceless.

They should have known they were headed for heavy weather and secured all that crap. There is no reason for it to be flying all over the place. Seriously, a cruise ship has no reason to be plowing into that stuff, it was just irresponsible on the part of the captain. They get the weather forecast, they could have hung in port an extra day and missed all that.

Its amazing though, how people panic when shit starts sliding. I was on a couch in the ship's break room one time when we took a roll and the furniture slid across the room. Everyone jumped up but me. I don't know why they bothered, the furniture all slid to one side of the room and then back again. No big deal. I didn't even spill my coffee.

One time the ship's steward put a little Christmas tree on top of the mini fridge in the break room, but didn't bother to secure it. The next morning when we came down someone had duct taped what was left of it to the floor. I couldn't help but laugh, it looked exactly like Charlie Brown's tree - every bulb but one was smashed.

The worst I ever saw it was when I rode the SeaLand Spirit back from Japan in 91. We were just out of the yard and since the ship was new, I don't think the captain had the ballast right at first. We took a roll so violent and extreme I'm surprised it came back at all. There was a passage way where we had stowed a lot of 55 gallon drums of machine oil and they broke the chains that were securing them.

The ship would roll and these full barrels would roll from side to side if the passage. I, being an idiot, got on one side of the passageway and when they rolled in I would grab them and flip them up on their ends. Then the guys behind me would wrestle them back into their positions. I did about 20 barrels this way and didn't even get a pinched finger.

Man, am I awesome...

After hearing about people "thrown overboard" and this I pretty much will never go on a frickin cruise. That is scary. It's enough to be on an airplane at my age. I like control and that is scary being in the middle of no where.

There's nothing to be afraid of. I'm guessing that film was taken in a piano bar or somewhere way up at the top of the ship.

The lower you go, the less extreme the rolling is. People still might get a little sea sick, but there isn't going to be quite so much stuff sliding around down below.

I've been on two cruises and one of them we hit some rough seas and it didn't bother me at all, we were playing ping pong on the deck and enjoying. I never understood sea sickness or motion sickness. If this negro who hates the water can handle a rolling ship ya'll are some patsies!
