Thanks Craig, I'll keep it in mind.

Sounds like if you don't do that, they can't drop his insurance, but you might have to pay the full cost of his policy, which might be up to $500 a month or so.

That sounds like (and is) a lot of money, but modern effective healthcare IS high-tech and expensive, if something does actually happen, so insurance for obtaining that will necessarily also be expensive. A fact which cannot be changed by government fiat; it will still be expensive, they will just choose their victims and force those people to pay for it.

We incorporated my wife's business last year, named her, myself, and our daughter as directors of the company, and got a small group policy for the three of us. it pretty much covers catastrophes and not much else, which is what a sensible insurance policy should do. It costs us about $1500 a month. That's the reality of having access to modern care, and it's not ultimately avoidable without lowering the quality or the availability of it.

I think they will just drop him from my policy, and I will get in some kind of trouble for not doing it voluntarily this month. I am not complaining about what I am paying now. I want it to stay the way it is, but there is chance that won't happen.

He is definitely signing up for an extra class, we already decided that. But I just think I'm not going to say anything at all to them and just let them have whatever info they ask for like I do every year and see how it plays out. If I try to talk to them about it, it will just draw attention to possibly being out of compliance all year.

Well, according to the laws you posted in Post #2, they can't do that if you support him and he *either* lives at home OR is a student (full *or* part time); they can only require you to pay his full premium.

Yeah, I'd probably go with the same strategy. Sign up for the extra class for fulltime status so that he qualifies by their rules to be paid for by the company, don't make any waves, see what happens.

Right. If I am forced to, I'll show them the statute so at least I'll have something to back me up.
