WD TV Live - Spectacular device!

I'm checking on the AirVideo now.
the wife uses dvr for her shows and the little ones cartoons.
I usually download everything else. but wouldn't mind trying a dvr on the computer. but almost everything is down loadable, so I guess its not worth the trouble

That might work, but the laptop I have is a little underpowered and that USB capture card doesn't seem to use hardware encoding.

I broke down and got one of those easycap from ebay for $12 shipped. and it worked on my $299 acer from walmart. best $12 i spent on stuff like this.
