I could get excited about this - not sure if Kimutaku (a boy band member no less) is right for the Kodai (Derek Wildstar) role but I am a fan of the original.

Japanamation is got what me excited about learning Japanese in the first place, and that excitement has taken me a lot of good places. That said, a lot of it doesn't hold up very well - Yamato does. Brave people risking their lives to save the planet is always good.

If it comes out before I leave here in June, I might see that one in the theater.

I own the first season of Star Blazers on DVD and all the Speed Racers too. My son is just getting old enough to understand them and Speed Racer is a huge hit at my house. I even dug the live action movie from a couple of years ago. It got royally panned by the crtics, but I loved it. John Goodman as Pops Racer - genius. The part where he beats down the ninjas is hilarious.

Deslock's Japanese voice is very deep - really macho sounding, almost hyper-male.

I think the English version's kind of creepy-gay-insane-guy voice is actually more effective. He seems way more threatening.
