Default Death of Buell Article in Cycle World

Wow..I just finished reading "The Death of Buell" in the May issue of Cycle World. I have ZERO respect, no wait, that is too kind, but I have nothing to describe my contempt for what Harley did to Buell. Mutha F***ers.

When Eric Buell's non-compete is up with HD, I can't wait to see what he will do.

HD really screwed with him, BIG TIME.

I can't believe Eric Buell didn't go postal. I mean really.

Eric Buell; he's going to get some money from me when he starts doing his thing again.

Pretty much at every turn they squeezed and made life difficult for Eric/Buell.
A real sense of resentment within HD. Corporate sabotage and back stabbing. The Buells we got? Not *really* what Eric wanted to build. He'd get some things he wanted, but HD would screw around with budgets and marketing.

It's a sickeing read and will make you hate HD, if you don't already.

Eric, an American motorcycle guy, who was crushed by aligning himself with HD to get his dream along. He made a deal with the devil.

Cycle World is sold in the Super Market, so you can pick it up.

I really, really want HD to go out of business now.

As a Buell owner, I hope they stay in business at least long enough to honor my warranty. I'm not happy that I have to get service from then, especially since 99.9% of their techs couldn't give a shit less about Buells, even more so my 1125 with it's foreign engine.

I don't know how much Erik will be able to do without starting from scratch though. HD still owns the majority of the intellectual property and patents, so he would still (as he is now with Erik Buell Racing) have to pay license fees to HD to build things he created.

The good news, at least for now is that there is an "Erik Buell Racing" and he is still making and selling performance parts for them. To bad I still have to get the rest of my parts from HD.

I started a thread about this over on advrider and it's like 5 pages already. Harley could have sold Buell to BRP and Eric could have taken the 1125R, 1125CR, and upcoming B2 and given BRP a nice line to go with Can-Am, but Harley tanks them, puts people out of work, over ego. F Harley.

HD doesn't want to Buell to succeed like they did. I remember clearly when AMF owned HD, in the '70s, and it failed. A group of HD corporate managers aquired the funding and saved HD. Now, instead of allowing Buell the chance to save itself, HD has taken the attitude of, "If I can't have you..."

To me, it is just another reason to not give HD any of my money.

Vote with your wallets, folks.

I think the article said something like he got the rights to the Buells.

Yep. The article the BRP folks were almost on a plane to come and sign papers. What a bunch of F***heads.
