Default Bill would let motorcyclists weave through Valley traffic

The title is misleading as the bill actually says that motorcyclists can lane spit when traffic is stopped.

But I am bothered, shocked and appalled at the reactions and comments from non-riders and the hatred for us. If you go back in the comments (scroll down under story and click on comments) you will see a guy actually admits to cutting us off and revels in the idea of a biker dying.

Bill would let motorcyclists weave through Valley traffic - Phoenix Arizona news, breaking news, local news, weather radar, traffic from ABC15 News | ABC15.com

I left a few comments myself but it really makes me angry. One rider said to ride like cagers have a $5000 bounty on your head.

I knew some cagers felt like this but not at this level ...shocking

Move to California.

But not LA, because every morning on the news it seems like there's a report of a motorcyclist being hit.

I wish filtering and lane-splitting were legal here. The recently passed stop-and-go-on-red legislation here though, which was great, as the magnetic traffic light tripper that I put on Veronica's tummy is of dubious value.

And talk about cutting off people, when I drove an 18-wheeler over the road, I would have people that I was unable to move over for as they came down an onramp haul ass past me, get in front of me, and brake-check me! Now I am not on my Fizzer, but am up to 80,000 lbs of rollin' hate n' real estate! Talk about dumb! I almost flattened this old Kentucky Bluehair Biotch once near Bowling Green who pulled that stunt on me. She is lucky that I am as good with that thing as I am, or she would have been street pizza.

I found this in the St. Louis Post Dispatch this morning...

'Distracted' driver charged in motorcyclist's death - STLtoday.com

'Distracted' driver charged in motorcyclist's death

CREVE COEUR -- A woman who lost control of her car this morning on Olive Boulevard, hitting and killing a motorcyclist, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and posession of marijuana.

Judy Tran, 20, of the 4900 block of Bonita Avenue in St. Louis lost control of her vehicle near Olive and Craig Road at 5:43 a.m., police said. She was charged this afternoon with the three counts after investigation by Creve Coeur police.

Routine tests performed after the crash showed that she had been impaired and was driving under the influence, though her blood-alcohol level itself did not rise above .08 percent, police say.

Creve Coeur Police Capt. George Hodak said Tran was clearly distracted in the 5:43 a.m. crash. The motorcyclist was a man on his way to work, "just minding his own business," Hodak said.

The St. Louis County medical examiner's office identified the victim as David Null, 26, of St. Louis County.

Null was a collection administrator for the law offices of Kramer & Frank. He and his wife, Becki, have a 17-month-old son, Austin, and another baby boy on the way. Becki is expecting in June. The baby's name will be Jacob.

Hodak said the crash happened while the motorcycle and car were both going east on Olive Boulevard, near Craig Road.

"Our initial investigation shows she took her eyes off the roadway to wake up her front-seat passenger," Hodak said. "She struck a concrete pillar, bounced off the pillar and struck the motorcycle."

When her car hit the motorcycle, it knocked Null off, Hodak said.

Hodak said the distraction had nothing to do with any cell phone or texting.

Two people were riding in the car with her. One was still being evaluated at a hospital. Hodak said the injuries weren't serious.

Hodak said he expects to release more details later.

Null's father-in-law David Kozeny of Town and Country said Null attended Southwest Baptist, University of Missouri at St. Louis and Missouri State. He was planning to go back to UMSL in the fall.

David and Becki recently moved in with Kozeny. When he left early for work, Null was planning to stop for gas on the way to the office.

"He was a great kid, a great father who loved Austin tremendously," Kozeny said. "The thing that strikes me is he's not going to be there when Jacob is born."

Kozeny added one thought about the driver who caused it: "This must be very difficult on the woman as well."

Well she will hopefully get time in prison to think about how she was responsible for his death because of her stupidity.

I have a whole new attitude about drivers after today.

Lane splitting, even when stopped, if it were legal, I'm not sure I'd do it because of the idiots on the road. I read through a ton of the posts on Jules' link. One caught my eye about motorcycles in the HOV lane...er...it's legal for motorcycles to travel there.

So there are so many cases of road rage out there, I'm not sure I would be willing to contribute regardless of the legality of doing it.

Im assuming you guys never bothered to read the damn article, She reached over to wake up the passenger of the car, struck a concrete barrier bounced off into the motorcyclist, that would be called an ACCIDENT, no reason for anything to happen to her whatsoever.
