a) Cancers are highly complex, involving all sorts of the cellular mechanisims.
b) It is false that we "are no closer to figure out"; a lot of progress has been made in understanding many cancers. It's not a black-and-white either we fully understand it or we don't understand it at all sort of thing. Nothing is, really. It is a long process to understand something so complex, and that process gets done one step at a time.

I don't suppose you could have been bothered to actually look at the articles, could you? They weren't about "studying other peoples thoughts" at all; they were about studying the observable behaviors of proteins, amino acids, lipids, and so on. You fail.

It matters very much how one "gets there". If one "gets there" through the laborious application of science and rationality, then when one does "get there", one has built up a store of genuine knowledge to truly understand the "there" that one has gotten to. Otherwise, one hasn't.
