Potatoes, rice and beans. Look at the per ounce cost of things and not the overall cost; you'll be able to find what's actually the cheapest thing to buy that way. Kroger's grocery stores usually has chicken or turkey on sale under $1/lb. That's the goal: food under $1/lb. Means eating whole and not processed.
Hang your clothes up to dry; they'll last longer this way, and when it comes down to counting pennies you do save on not using the dryer. Kill the bills. Ditch the cable on TV, go to dial-up internet, cut back on the phone plan if possible. Hope you find a new job so fast it gives you whiplash. |

Dry bulk foods is where its at. Stick to one room, don't use heat much instead bundle up, unplug all your devices when you aren't using them. Use the food banks and make sure you do an intense maint check on your vics so you don't get surprised later with something you could have stopped.

Jason, this really sucks and I'm sorry you have to go through this. I'm not sure what your folks' situation is, but I think you should sit down and talk with them about it and not worry about ruining their holiday.
People mobilize behind you when you reach out and they don't ever think, "God, he ruined my Christmas." You don;t have to go through this alone, get their input. |

I made it through the Chistmas Eve party tonight unscathed. Then tomorrow Christmas runs from 9am to noon. I'll tell my folks, but not until the 27,they deserve to be happy. I just can't drop this huge bomb on them tomorrow.
I'll be okay. Moving around a little today made me feel a little better. Again, thanks for your concerns. NOW NO MORE WORRIES. ENJOY YOUR FAMILIES AND YOUR HOLIDAY!
