Default Short rant, bit of self back pattin

So my Amana clothes washer got loud as hell on spin cycle recently (it would take over the whole house loud). I only had this damn thing for 2 years (warranty was for 1). I figgured being Amana it would be good shit and last. after checkin it out its a bad bearing, so I go looking up parts to fix it. The bearing thats bad only comes in a kit, you have to buy the whole damn outer tub! to get the bearing and seal for $500 wtf!!! There's 2 bearings that support the inner tub another $100 to get that kit. Oh f*^k that. Why the hell can't a guy just order the needed parts without buying shit thats not needed?
end rant

I found em online for 9.95 and 7.95 plus 2 day shipping it was 29.45.
I got the seal out with out destroying it, turns out just a bit of hair had worked its way in there and let some water seep in getting in a "sealed bearing" <--? so since the seal still looks new, showing no signs of wear, still soft and I'm not finding a replacement seal I'm gonna reuse it if the stores around town don't have one sitting around. What the hell even if it only last a year it's a helluva lot better than $500 just to get a kit that has the seal or buying another washer

I had a relative who just replaced their washer after 30 years (!) of use. Find me one today that'll last 30 years.

I think getting a new one that lasts 3 yrs would be an accomplishment.

My parents have had their washer/dryer since at least 2000 and only one minor problem with a sensor which was easy to jerry rig

dont pat too soon.......Amana has that short cut blocked as you will see!!

any non-amana bearing will not work....causing you cloths to actually become dirty'r with every wash...

I saw it on Myth busters!!.............= FAIL

We've had ours for nearly 14 years. I've replaced the belt on the dryer (just last month) and some kind of coupling on the washer. So far so good

One thing I really do like about washers and dryers (at least the ones I've had to tinker with), they're easier to repair.
