So, I finally went and bought a new vehicle Friday night. My cousin works at a new car dealership and I've been needing a new vehicle, so he gave me a good deal. He sold me a 2006 Ford Explorer. 4.0 6 cyl., 3rd row seating, Sirius ready, Alloy wheels, Rear Air, Floor Shifter (not on the steering column), and it has 63,000 miles and some change. He sold it to me for $10,000 and that includes the tax, tag, title. The only problem I had with it was that it had a dead battery. They charged it up at the dealer and it started up fine and even the next morning when I got ready to leave for work. I stopped by QT to get a drink and a banana, like I do every morning I drive my fiance's car, and I shut it off, walked in, bought my stuff and came back out. NOTHING.... I couldn't even get a dash light out of the deal. So, I walked down to advance auto parts, about a 2 mile walk, b/c no one at QT had any jumper cables, and I got someone who worked down there to drive me up there and jump me off. Well, it wouldnt even jump off from their car or a jump box. Next thing you know, I had to call my fiance, wake her up at 6:30 in the morning(NOT SOMETHING I LOOK FORWARD TO DOING) so she could bring the cash down there to pay for a battery, which was $110. I figured since the dealer was going to refund me for the cost of the battery (b/c I called my cousin and woke his ass up and told him and he said they would refund me for the battery), that I might as well get the best battery they have.
Anyway, so that was my weekend of events.

Its funny how a good battery can go to hell sitting on a car lot for a short time. Its like they do something to the pavement that sucks the juice right out of the battery. Congrats on the new ride. I finally broke down this time last year and got rid of the suburban for another truck.

I look at it like this, raining or not, if i'm on the bike I'm not driving my truck, thats a double bonus as long as the road is free of ice.

Yeah, but I live 53 miles one way from my house to where I work. Ice or not, if it's 35 degrees outside, I dont exactly want to be riding on I-20 and 285 during rush hour traffic. I only get the no wheels blues in the winter time.

^^^^ Jason is a good guy no dought. But why he decided to buy an Exploder is beyond me, I tried to offer him good advice but he is 25 and well guys at that age are just like teenagers you can't tell them anything lol. So the first day he owns it the battery shorts out and now he is on the fun Ford highway of ownership! Ha.

I really wanted a Toyota Tundra, but no one had one in my price range. Those things are too damn expensive.

I was looking around at Ford Rangers and Toyota Tacomas. The Toyotas were usually a grand or more over the Rangers. With the transmission problems that plagued the Ranger though? May be worth it.
