Default Fookn' Dodge!

Well, my truck has been down for two weeks and they just now figured out that I need a new transmission. This sucks because in addition to the 670.00 I've already spent I now get to pay another 2,500 to have the transmission rebuilt.

I'd trade the fuckn' thing in but with what I owe and what I have to come out of pocket to fix it, I'd be upside down.

This truck is only 3 years old and 9,000 miles out of warranty. (109,000 miles)

I put over 225,000 miles on my last truck (Chevrolet) and NEVER had a single problem with it. It was the best vehicle I've ever owned and I should have bought another one rather than taking a chance on a Fukn' Dodge.

Rant over.. Thanks for listening.

I love mine. The only probelm I've ever had was a recall they had to fix the clutch. I learned ALONG time ago never to trust their automatic transmissions so I went with a manual and couldnt be happier. Sorry for the bad luck man.

While I like the style of their trucks and the gorgeous sound of that 5.7hemi I've heard too many horror stories about the dodges to seriously consider on. Happy as a clam with my Tundra CrewMax

As far as warranty, the best warranty service I ever had was from Honda. Had a 98 accord EX which I bought second hand from Toyota and the starting motor went on the car at 120000km .. warranty expired at 100, but they still covered it.

Sorry to hear bout your issues. I loved my 01 Ram and I never had a single major issue with it, but, I am really happy that I went with a Toyota Tundra for my new truck.

If a new truck were an option the crew max would be a first choice. I just don't know if I could get by with so little room though..

You mean in the pan / bed of the truck I guess? No lack of room in the cab I can tell ya!! LOL

Too bad about your rebuild bud. Hopefully it works better in the long run.

I would at least try and argue that it should not of went out, and that you had issues with it. Ask for a factory rep to decide to cover it or not. Sometimes they will sometimes they will not, sometimes they will cover part...it all depends on their mood that week. I had a part on my Ford Escort covered way after the warranty was out...but it was something that should never of broke. Dealer covered it as a goodwill gesture (however I think we were talking $100). On my 2001 Mercury Cougar I was on the 3rd transmission and it was a fight but Ford did finally pickup half the cost of me putting in a new transmission as a goodwill gesture (took my salesman to get it through).

So what I am saying is it doe snot hurt to ask, maybe they will maybe they won't just ask the right people and don't expect the little guy to do it, go to the service manager, and if he says no ask about maybe the manufacture (Rep). Never hurts to ask...and to make it sound like your not expecting something for FREE I would say "just some help would be nice".

One of our neighbors' son runs a construction company and always bought Chevys. One year, he replaced several trucks with Dodges and had trouble with all of them. He said there was no way they would last as long as his Chevys did.

My father bought a new S10 Blazer in '87, gave it to me in about '97, and we put over 300,000 miles on the thing. Original transmission AND the original clutch, if you can believe that. It spent it's last few years pulling plow duty during the winters.

I'm sure someone has a horror story, but in my experience, you can't beat a Chevy.

My dad has had 3 Dodge Dakotas since the late 1980's... never had a problem with any of them. Except for the 2nd one which started leaking transmission fluid a year after he got it, and it was covered under warranty... this same truck had over 300,000 miles on it when he sold it. He had a Chevrolet truck at one point, and it was the most unreliable truck I have ever seen.

I'm not a Dodge fan, or would ever own a truck, so I'm not biased.

There have been good and not-so-good examples of each brand (and Fords as well). I think for the kind of mileage you are putting on, the simpler the truck the better. In particular I'm a believer in manual transmission whenever possible.

I had a Chevy van, straight six, three-on-the-tree, and that thing was unkillable. My parents before that had a Dodge van, slant-six, three-on-the-tree, likewise unkillable (mechanically; eventually both of them gave way to rust).
