I noticed that as well. I don't speak it at all anymore but I sure do remember being taught spain spanish and how much more precise it is compared to mexico spanish.

I don't know that I see it that way exactly. It's a lot like saying British English is more precise. In Mexico, like in the US, there are people who are extremely well spoken and have very correct diction and usage.

But as a mother tongue it does carry a bit more credibility as it were.

Yes, one of my flight instructors was a Venezuelan named Guy. Sandy blond hair and blue eyes. Once he realized I knew a thing or two about Europe, he was proud to state that he was not only from Spain originally, but was a Castillian. His Spanish was of a very different order than what I was used to hearing in Florida while I was there. He was very proud of his background and frankly a little arrogant about it.

Oh, and a great pilot, btw.
