Default making a exhaust guard. metal question

I need to make a exhaust guard for my boots. my grave exhaust comes up close behind my foot peg and burns the heel of my work boots when I ride to work. on track days my sidi's doesn't get touched. so I am thinking of making a heel guard out of aluminum. would that be less heat transfer than steel or something other? I have heat wrap on it right now but it hasnt helped.

R6Junkie...........

Use Aluminum or Titanium sheet metal. Make a manilla folder template and then carve it out. Find a pipe to bend the shape of the curve into it and here is the kicker.

You have to have an air gap between the gaurd and the pipe. I use really long rivets and I space them with washers or nuts. The air gap lets the gaurd block a bit of heat and still dissipate it.

I hope you get what Im explaining.

thanks guys, AaronB has what I had in mind which is what I think Hybrid explained. I had a set of the carbon fiber ones on a 919 one time and they looked good (came with some ART Race cans). Since I was going to make some myself I wasnt real sure what material to use. but for the time being (until I get to the shop) I took a piece of aluimumin L rail and cut a 3" piece. took it and fliped the v up towards my heel and safety wired it into place on the mid pipe. this will get me to work until I can fab some like pictured.
I wished I had kept the 919 . but since the R6 is been doing duel duty. the more I can kick myself in the ass for converting it back to street.
