Default SV650 gauge replacement?

Getting ready to get my sv650 back to normal from the 1st owner's mistakes.
Asshole fucked up the gauge cluster by dropping it on a bush or some shit.
Gauge cluster housing and sub-housing are smashed up, need replacement. Tach itself needs replacement, currently doesn't work due to the needle breaking out of the motor. Whole thing looks like shit and I feel bad for my poor SV.
So on to the question:
Should I go with a Trail Tech Vapor instead or just go back to the OEM cluster pieces?
Price difference is a couple hundred in Trail Tech's favor, give or take a few bucks.

Any experienced advice concerning the Vapor unit or any aftermarket gauge clusters would be great.

Okay take this with a grain of salt seeing as I have never installed on of these things for someone as of yet.

The unit seems to be based on an off road dirtbike or dual sport configuration. While its true that all motorcycles are essentially the same, the compexity of the wiring from dirt to SV is enormous.

The unit looks like it funtions basicaly the same way any universal one would. A couple of standard imputs and a front wheel speed sensor.

All in all, if you need something you need it. I myself would find an ebay or craigslist special of a used dash with lowish miles that works. They are out there and had if you look.

My qualm with most of the aftermarket dash hits is that you must modify something that most know little about............the electrical system and that front wheel sensors are very easily damaged and tempermental.

I would go with the Veypor, but I take everything apart and mess with it anyway.

For what it's worth, my SV is a race bike and I'm about to rewire it completely. It never had any clocks, so I'll be wiring up something or another.
