Ended up going with POR-15 to seal the tank instead of getting it welded due to the location of the leak. It was going to end up costing almost as much to have it welded as it would to buy a new (used) tank, so we decided to give the sealer a try because we'd heard good things about it. Started the process last Saturday. It has to dry for 96 hours. We were busy so it ended up getting a few extra days to dry. Put some gas in it on Saturday and didn't seem to be leaking anymore. Finally got to go riding on Sunday and had no problems So far not smelling gas anymore and haven't seen any leaking out. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on it, but hopefully this will last a good while and I won't have to fork out the money for a new tank anytime soon! If something changes, I will definitely post up, but as of right now, I highly recommend POR-15! If you decide to use it though, make sure you follow the directions exactly!

you want JB weld moist, can put it on their as is and it usually works pretty damn well and holds good as well. It is sand able should you want to sand and paint over it. I have used it on equipment gas tanks before and it has done well.

Good deal glad you found something nondestructive that did the trick.

Yea, JB Weld didn't work due to the location of the leak (under the mounting bracket). But the POR-15 did the job so it's all good!

Regular JB weld will not, which is why you have to use the wet stuff
