I want to put frame sliders on my bike but I know "0" about them. I like the looks of the Shogun sliders. What do yall think of them as far as quality? I would think they all perform the same.

Anything is better than nothing I guess. As long as price isn't an issue, durability shouldn't be an issue as long as you don't go down
I don't even know the name of the ones on my bike. Had them installed from the dealer.

IMHO the most important part of a slider is how it is mounted to the bike and the hardware used. I've seen "no cut" sliders mounted on little flimsy supports that end up bending and I've also seen other sliders mounted directly to the frame that end up cracking the plastics as the screw that should have kept them in place bent. I'd look for something with a bit of metal in the tip, less friction and it will not grind away as fast as pure plastic, and it can always get painted black so you can't notice it.

They mount directly to the frame, and protect it from damage should you crash...Sometimes, they will also protect your plactics from damage, but that is not what they are designed for...
There are different types to choose from, and you don't have to buy the most expensive ones to get great protection...Just make sure you don't buy the "no cut" sliders...They use a bracket so you don't have to cut your plastics...They suck and do not work in a big crash... Just cut your plastics, if needed...Believe it or not, when done right, a set of sliders poking through a hole in your plastics looks pretty awesome

Well that depends on the bike, on mine for instance (second set) bolted straight to the motor mounts with no cutting, as advertised, so did my first set, which bolted to the frame but used a small bolt which bent in my get off last year and were pretty pointless.

Thanks for all the in-put guys
I will definitely have to cut the plastics. Well, the dealer will, I can not bring myself to cut on my baby. I found some carbon fiber ones that have a metal cap which looks pretty cool. Now to make sure the hardware is strong enough not be bend easily. I hope I never have to put them to the test...

Yep, cut if you need to. Also good to check with people that have the same bike you do to see what they have experienced/recommend. My Daytona slid about 20 feet when I had a late reaction to gravel making a turn. Scraped up the bar end and put about a 1" x 1/8" scrape on the tail and that was it thanks to the frame slider taking the abuse.

Also, it's my understanding that you want the slider to erode if ever needed to help absorb/dissipate the energy.
