By the way, while I actually liked the BT-016 in a couple of sets I ran, surprisingly I got better mileage out of the stickier BT-003RS (actually I got AMAZING mileage out of those tires - like 5K), and they are definitely better on the track. They are a little bit more, but you can still find package deals.

I don't really think 5k is amazing mileage for a sport tire. It's ok. Amazing would 8-10k.

I am not really interested in getting another set of 016s, just sharing the deal. I would settle for them if I had to, but I called a local shop and they are holding a set of M5s for me that they have on sale. A little more than the 016 deal above, but still less than what I usually pay for M3s. I guess they ordered too many sets and were clearing them out. I got the last set.

Really? Anything over 3K miles is amazing to me (I think I got 3.5 out of the BT-016s). I fully expected the 003RS to literally evaporate off the rim like the OEM Metzeler RaceTechs on my BMW; but they didn't. They put a super-hard compound down the middle, and it really helps with the highway wear. I don't think I've ever gotten 8K out of a set of motorcycle tires in my life.

The difference between liter bikes and 600/750s. One reason I will never own a liter supersport is I don't want to singlehandedly fund the tire industry. Or the insurance industry. Or lose my license.

Yeah but "in my life" goes back to some pretty low power motorcycles!

I guess tires don't really care much about HP, like chains, it's probably torque they "see" directly. I dunno what I do wrong.

Anyway, the BT-003RS give me 5K including a couple of trackdays, and they stick better than the BT-016 which give me 3.5K with one trackday, so if you can score the 003RS for $20 more I'd vote for them. But if not, the 016 is perfectly ok. That was my real point.

I never used to even pay attention to what mileage I got out of tires. It was only when I found the forums that I started worrying about it. Then again the first 10-12 years I couldn't afford to get new tires just because I needed them, and would push them way beyond the limit.

But I seem to remember on my gsxr600, I got about 9k out of the rear stock tire and about 11 out of the front. When I started doing track days and getting sticker tires they only lasted for about 6-7k. My 750 doesn't do as well, but I can't say what I get because I swap them when they are about half way gone and sell them. I find I like fresh tires, and now that I can afford to change them more often, I do.

We may be doing the same thing, then. If I let a tire get to the wear bars, it's just barely. Usually by that time the profile is severely whacked due to all the street miles I run up, and/or I'm running up against a trackday and don't want to fight the profile.

I was very pleased by the Q2s I just took off the BMW - not with the overall performance or mileage or anything (though all that was fine) - but because that's the first tire I've worn out evenly center and sidewall.

I suspect tire wear varies do to road conditions, acceleration and stopping. so people in different area's stating their wear probably is Irrelevent.

AC you are agreeing with me a lot lately cause I am a Brilliant mother fucker and obviously you must be a Brilliant Witch so great minds think alike, usually, then war comes though
