Cycle World Master Bike article... Oops!

Mark Cernicky was Cycle World's entrant into the 2010 Master Bike competition, and one of the few riders who did NOT set his fastest time on the S1000RR. While ahead of his lap times on his "home bike", the CBR, the ZX-10R, and, well, almost everything else - he complained of early traction-control and ABS intervention, and ended up .2 seconds behind his overall best lap on the RSV4.

It seems he inadvertently ran his hot laps on the BMW in "Sport" mode (for typical street use) rather than "Slick" mode intended for expert track use.



Final best lap results - BMW by a ridiculous 1.5 seconds over the Ducati 1198S, then another 1.5 seconds covered 2-8 before the R1 brought up the rear. In other words, the BMW was as much faster than the second place bike as that bike was faster than the eight place finisher.

Just be sure you have it in the right mode.
