Name: Ken
Age: 48(49 in July)
First street bike: 1976 Yamaha RD 250
Bikes: I am not going to list them all because the total combined of street and race bikes would be well over 30 +
But the last 4 were street:
1987 FZR 1000
1989 GSXR 750
1990 FZR 600
1994 CBR 900
Got married in 92 and sold the CBR in 97 when I moved from B'ham to the ATL for a new job. Did not ride from 97 until 08 when I could no longer stand it and purchased my 08 R6 in June of that year.
Never did the MSF class but started roadracing in 87, went through the Ed Bargy school that year, went from novice to expert midway through my first year and was asked to join an endurance team(Cycle Motion Racing) based out of B'ham Al. My first year in that I was racing againt guys like Scott Russell/ Kevin Rentzel riding for team Solimax and guys like Kurt Hall that were big in WERA at that time. I also held a expert AMA licence at during this same time.
High water mark: came in 1990 when I won the southeastern C production class. I was also leading the race at road Atlanta at the WERA national championship that year when I crashed on the last lap right befor the start/finish line.
Sold my last bike because the now ex wife told me I was selfish for continuing to ride with a newborn on the way because"if you get hurt how are you going to work?", the racing of course had already stopped for the same reason.
But my son is now 16, I have insurance up the ass to take care of him and the week of my B'day this year(July13th-18th me and my best friend are going to spend 4 days leaving from my house, doing the loop and then going to stay in Gatlinburg and spend the next 2 days on the dragon, riding the Blue Ridge/ Fontana dam and wherever th fuck we want to go! Life is good sometimes.
