This is just like the whole third brake light initiative in the 80's. There were all these studies proving how a third brake light prevented a significant percentage of rear-end collisions in pilot studies.
Well, DUH! Nobody had ever seen a third brake light come on before, of course they reacted!! I'd like to see the followup studies as the novelty wore off. Oh, we don't have funding for those.
