A couple of the finest Kurosawa/Mifune films are more psychological and with less bonk. "Stray Dog" is an early one, 1947 I think. "High and Low" a later film. Both are outstanding.

A few years ago, the Ken Cinema (on Adams St.) had a Kurosawa film festival, 10 films in 7 days. I saw them all; great experience. I had a 3-day business trip to Denver that week, but fortunately it spanned the two most famous films, that they showed for two days each. So I went to see Seven Samurai, then took a redeye to Denver, was there while SS showed the second day, and the next day (first showing of Rashomon), third day got in to SD airport at 10:30 pm, wife waiting for me at the curb with sandwiches and we went straight to the threater to catch the very last showing of Rashomon at 11 pm. The on to the next film the next day.
